Putting it all together... (updated)
When is a Computer not just a computer?
Some details about my current "Main Rig"
(the sum of all parts mentioned in previous posts).
- Thermaltake Element S Case with fan in side panel
- (Amacrox Freestyle 1000W Power Supply: dead)
...replaced with Thermaltake Evo Blue - 750W - Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Mainboard
... Replaced with Asus P6X58D Premium - Intel i7 920 Processor, 2.66GHz ... mildly over clocked @ 3.01GHz
... replaced with a 930 (2.8Ghz) now running @ 3.8Ghz - Noctua NH-U12P Special Edition SE1366 Heatsink w/ 2 x NF-P12 Premium Fans
- 6 x 2GB Kingston1333MHz DDR3 DRAM (12GB total) ... over clocked @ 1503Mhz
... replaced with 6 x 2GB Kingston Hyper X DDR3 1500Mhz running @ 1600Mkz - 2 x Asus ENGTS250 "Dark Knight" 1GB GTS250 Graphics Cards
- 3 x Western Digital Caviar "Black" 1TB, 7200RPM, SATA 3GB/s, 32MB Cache (Linux Ext3)
... replaced with 2 x WD Caviar Green 2 TB drives: Ext4 - 1 x Western Digital Caviar "Green" 160GB (Windows XP - Used for windows games only)
... replaced with WD Caviar Black 1 TB SATA3 system drive: Linux Mint LMDE - 1 x Basic TV Capture Card-Removed
- 3 x Asus 23" Wide Full High Definition 1920X1080P LCD Screens, VGA, DVI, HDMI
... Replaced with 1 x Asus VW266H 26" due to space issues in new office. - Peripherals:
- 1 x Logitech Cordless MX Evolution Mouse
- 1 x Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Jostick (+ a second Logitech Joystick used on Flightgear FS)
- 1 x Logitech G25 Racing Wheel - Force Feedback, 3 pedals, 6 speed Gear Lever.
- 1 x Logitech Z-5500D 5.1 THX Digital 1010 Watt Speaker System (incl 10" 188W Sub)
- 1 x Logitech Wave Keyboard (although I prefer to use a Kensington Comfort Type - USB )
- 1 x Epson Stylus Photo TX800FW, Wireless Multi-function (Fax, Copy, Scan, Print) - Dedicated Photo + CD trays
My System currently runs Linux Mint 'Gloria' 7 (64bit) (update: Now running Linux Mint Debian Edition. I also run Virtualbox and currently have around 30 operating systems installed, including:
- Debian/GNU 5.0,
- Linux Mint 10, Main, LXDE, KDE editions, etc.
- Puppy Linux (4.1.2), 5.01, and others
- Debian 5.0 & 6.0
- Ubuntu 10.10, desktop & netbook editions
- Windows 2000,
- Windows XP home
- Windows XP Professional
- Windows Vista Business (64bit)
- Windows 7 Professional (64bit)
- ... and many more
This system is comfortably able to run around 10 operating systems at the same time!
I also have Flightgear Flight Simulator installed and configured to run on all three screens (120 degree view) but thats a subject for another post...
All in all, not a bad system! What do you think?
